This article is a guide to the best outdoor activities to do around Solenzara and to make you want to come back again and again to visit us.

Natural Swimming Pools.

Mountain bathing at Solenzara

The idea of a natural pool in a picturesque setting with cool, translucent water. What a tourist’s dream!

In practice, this excursion can sometimes disappoint. First you need to know the right spots, then how to get there. And finally, you need to be sure you’ve chosen the right place for the whole family.

Many people, through lack of preparation, end up parking their cars more for convenience and impatience than for the beauty of the natural landscape. And that’s when we hear our customers say: “It’s beautiful, but nothing more…”, or “It was too crowded…”.

To help our customers avoid this kind of disappointment, we’ve selected for you two idyllic, unsaturated spots that are reasonably difficult to get to and will have your friends dying of envy on Instagram.

Follow our local team’s real-life tips for unforgettable natural pools.

Remember to preserve places and leave them cleaner than you found them.

The Gorges of the Solenzara River

A comfortable zone, suitable for everyone. Its perfect water temperature and hues, and its soothing landscape will offer you real moments of plenitude.

Les Vasques de la Solenzara is a magical place for all ages. While youngsters love to swim in the clear water, sunbathe on the rocks or enjoy an invigorating dip from one pool to the next, parents can rest easy knowing that there’s plenty of safe space, just in case their children want a little privacy while they’re off exploring this earthly paradise and diving with their mask and snorkel.

One of our favorite spots is just beyond the U Monte Grosso campsite, on the side of the Solenzara river, where you can sample local specialties while listening to the waterfall flowing right next to the terrace.

Just a 20-minute drive away, this little paradise also offers an adventure trail for the little ones.

For the more experienced, canyoning excursions also leave from the campsite.

Although Corsica’s natural pools can be quite crowded during the high season, you’ll always find a quiet spot to put your towel, umbrella and snack.

Although access here is particularly safe, we recommend as always that you come properly shod and avoid flip-flops.

This place is just a personal recommendation, and we recommend that you stop along the way to find your own little paradise. Please let us know, and we’ll be happy to add it to this article.

Les 3 Bassins Chisa / Quenza

An excursion to the Trois-Bassins de Chisa is definitely a must when in Solenzara.

Count on 40 minutes’ driving on a small mountain road whose scenery will leave you breathless.

Although once again we recommend that you stop off on the road and seek out your own secret paradises, there’s no debating the fact that Trois-Bassins is a place not to be missed.

After a 15-minute ascent on the road that takes in the beauty of our mountains, the road winds its way down through increasingly dense vegetation.

Around a bend, you’ll find a green fence on your right and a few parked cars. Without saying that parking is easy, you should be able to find a spot without disturbing traffic or walking too far.

It won’t be long until the sound of the water makes you impatient. But like a theater curtain, the scrubland will keep you from seeing the show until the right moment.

The 3 Bassins are undoubtedly a heavenly spot, with flat, current-free zones and majestic, overlapping natural pools at the foot of a steep mountain.

If you’d like to stretch your legs, you can take a 25-minute round-trip aquatic hike upstream, during which the water varies in turquoise and emerald hues.

If power is never a problem for you or your children, there’s plenty of adventure in store for the most intrepid.

The 3 pools feature natural slides, small climbing passages and several diving boards, including an 8-metre one!

An ideal place to spend the day. And if afterwards you’d like to enjoy some beach time and a good straw hut, you can stop off on the way to the hotel.

Swimming in the mountains of Solenzara :Conclusion

Whether it’s the Rivière Solenzara or the Purcaraccia, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to bathing in a river.

We strongly recommend that you take a short walk to find yourself in a peaceful corner of paradise! In fact, just a few minutes’ walk through the pebbles and you’ll start to come across natural pools. And the further you go, the less crowded it gets – that’s the secret!

A final tip for the road: wherever there are cars with German or Dutch plates, there’s sure to be a nice spot! They know all the good canyoning spots. So where there’s canyoning, there’s also natural swimming pools!

However, you need to get there early, as the spots are very popular, especially at the height of the tourist season. If you’re coming from Solenzara, there’s a small parking lot on the left by the Fiumicelli bridge. You need to park here, otherwise if there’s no space you’ll have to go further and find a spot on the side of the road without obstructing traffic!
